Summary
'Incipit liber de naturis bestiarum': beg. 'Leo fortissimus bestiarum ... Bestiarum vocabulum proprie conuenit leonibus.' The first chapter of Genesis precedes on fol. 1, not quite perfect. The work to some extent corresponds with bks. ii and iii of the work sometimes printed as by Hugo de S. Victore (bk. ii of which is believed to be by Hugo de Folieto), and ends imperfect in the chapter 'de Cocodrillo' (Crocodilo), with '& occurrens regibus': Douce has added an index of the animals described. The writing is court-hand, and there are many illustrations.
