File 1, fols. 1-169: Documents 42-69 (as listed in MSS. Lugard 150/3), which include material on Lugard as director and his inquiry into the company's labour recruitment methods in view of the starvation of the Congo, 1927-1929.
File 2, fols. 1-188: Documents 70-100 as listed,excluding 90 and 99. These are concerned predominantly with Lugard's interest in labour questions and include Orde-Browne's comments on the company's pamphlet on Lever Brothers' labour, 1929-1932.
File 3, fols. 1-219: Document 90, concerned with the inquiry into the labour situation in the Lusanga Concession, 1931-1932.
File 4, fols. 1-96 and items 1-3: Document 99, consisting of later material concerned with the same inquiry, including the speech by the Belgian socialist leader, Vandervelde, in the Belgian Parliament on 14 June 1932, with related correspondence and a letter from Frederik van Langenhove, 1932.
