1. Fol. 1. Extracts from the 'Red Book of Thorney', at that time in the possession of Mildmay, earl of Westmorland, Sept. 12, 1640, and now Add. MSS. 3020-1 in the Cambridge University Library; also from the chartulary of Fineshade, co. Northampton, in the possession of Robert Kirkham, esq., Sept. 6 and 12, 1640 (fol. 11).

2. Fol. 36. Transcripts, made in Sept. 1640, of documents in the possession of the earl of Rutland at Belvoir:

Fols. 36, 53. concerning the foundation of the monasteries of Kirkham, Rievaulx, Wardon, and Blakeney, and a homage roll of the barony of Ross (from a family chartulary)

Fol. 41. a homage roll of Robert Pedwardine, temp. Hen. iv-vi, with memoranda of the fees of the baronies of Croum and Darcy and a Pedwardine pedigree

Fol. 62. concerning Croxton abbey, co. Leics., from the 'large' (fol. 62) and 'small' (fol. 66) chartularies, for which see Hist. MSS. Comm. Rep., Rutland, iv. 176

Fol. 71v. concerning Rievaulx abbey, from a repertorium

3. Fol. 75. Notes chiefly relating to Cambridgeshire from the family collections of (fol. 90v) John Layer, esq., including a descent of Layer from Butler, to 1640, and notes from public records and the charters of sir John Cutt (fol. 90v): (fol. 99) - Cator, esq., of Papworth, co. Cambs.

4. Fol. 101. Notes from the close rolls 4-50 Edw. iii and (fol. 145) 9 Ric. ii-14 Hen. iv.

Extracts, specified in Hunter's Three Catalogues, art. 1, from two Peterborough registers possessed in 1636 by sir Robert Wingfield, the next year by sir Christopher Hatton, and now (fols. 1, 37v) Cott. MS. Vesp. E. xxii (the White Book or register of abbots William and Godfrey) and (fols. 19, 69) Cott. MS. Vesp. E. xxi (register of abbot Adam).

Fol. 105v. Inquisitiones post mortem for Northamptonshire, Chancery series, Hen. iii-Edw. ii, and (fol. 138) Exchequer series, 2-16 Ric. ii.

Fols. 9-15v, 23-106 are not by Dodsworth. There is an index of names at fol. ii.
