Good initials on fols. 11–179. Fols. 1–10, calendar, added 16th century. (Pächt and Alexander ii. 540)

Binding

16th century, first half, Italian, Venice (incorporating 16th-century additions for the Dominican nuns of Corpus Domini, Venice): wood boards, narrow inside bevel; reddish-brown leather, with blind lines and gilt tooling, stamps including a winged cherub’s head and stars, to form on each cover an elaborate panel and circular frame for the ‘yh’s’ centrepiece; spine tooled with horizontal and diagonal lines in blind and gilt; traces of two clasps with leather straps, roughly torn away (since 1897?); edges gilt, gauffered . 135–136 96–97 c. 43–45 (book closed).

A Dominican Breviary, without Lauds, consisting of:

A Proprium de Tempore (fol. 11)

Proprium Sanctorum (fol. 78)

Commune Sanctorum (fol. 151) with smaller offices (fol. 159v) imperf. at end

This, which is of the 15th cent., has been supplemented by a Calendar with French admixture (?: fol. 1) and a Psalter (fol. 180) with Litany, written in the 16th cent. At July 12 is 'Anniuersarium dedications ecclesie', and St. Denis is a 'totum duplex' on Oct. 9.
