Rebound for Guillaume Glorian (see Provenance) in 1677. A note by Glorian in the MS. states that it was previously bound in 'satin bleuf'.

Guillaume Glorian, 1677. A note in the MS. by Glorian states that it was the presentation copy given to Charles VIII in 1495 when he was crowned emperor of Constantinople at Rome in 1495.

Allegorical applications of ten scenes from the Old Testament, and two from ancient history, to the Christian church; written in French, and addressed to Charles [VIII.] King of France; with thirteen half or whole page miniatures, as well as illuminated initials.

Genesis xli. 18, 19.
Job i. 18, 19.
Zoroaster's fourteen columns of the arts.
Cecrops' seven cities of Crete.
Psalm xxii. (xxiv.) 6.
2 Esdras ii. 19.
Esther v. 2.
Celebration of the mass.
Psalm lxxxiv. (lxxxv.), 10.
At the end, (fol 38,) is added, "Officium misse ad laudem et honorem Dei et sacratissime generationis dive Anne, in qua universalis militans ecclesia prefigurata fuit tempore nativitatis regis pacifici Jesu pacem omnibus tribuentis," cum notis musicis.
The following title is prefixed to the book by one Guillaume Glorian, its possessor in the year 1677, and whose initials are stamped on the binding:—"Figures touchant l'Eglise, presentée au Charles VIII. roy de France, en 1495, lors que il a ètè couronè empereur de Constantinople a Rome." On the back of this title the same writer has added the following note, which is succeeded on the next leaf by some remarks on the book and its supposed date and occasion :—"Ce present liure estoit ci deuant couuert de satin bleuf, mais comme la couuerture estoit toute husee, il a estée recouuer comme vous le voiez presentement pour Guillaume Glorian, les premiers jour de lan 1677."

In a letter of Dr. Rawlinson's, contained in vol. ii. of the Ballard MSS., fol. 163b, this book is spoken of as having belonged to Charles IX. of France.
