White sheepskin on oak boards, early 15th cent. English work. Endleaves from this binding are now MS. Lat. th. e. 4 (SC 1926*).

Acquisition

Apparently received by the Library in 1605.

Provenance

Reading Abbey, given by Thomas Erle, abbot 1409–1430: 'Collectarium ex dono domini Thome Erle abbatis', then (added) 'Claustralibus Rading', 15th cent. Fol. 230v, 'Liber monasterij Radynge', 15th cent. Clearly sect. C was once an independent volume.
