18 'free fronts' or covers of letters sent to John Henry Newman ('Oriel College Oxford', etc.), some retaining parts of their contents on reverse, perhaps solicited by a young Pollen autograph collector, 1828–1835. Plus envelope addressed [by John Henry Newman] to Revd John Keble, 4 Aug 1865. Originally tied with a red silk ribbon [in folder].
54 [empty] envelopes sent to John Henry Newman from the year after he was appointed a cardinal, some stamped and franked, most with bishop's seals [identified in pencil], from England, France, Spain, Hungary, the United States, etc., Nov–Dec 1880. With pencil list. Originally in Hodgkinson's Genuine hand made note paper 'Wookey Hole note' box [not retained].
