File 1, fols. 1-29: Correspondence with Lords Milner and Curzon and R. Sperling of the Foreign Office about Lugard's visit to Abyssinia on behalf of the Abyssinia Corporation, "a Company founded on the initiative of the F.O. to promote British commercial interests in that country", 1920. Also a memorandum by him and a blue-print of a projected light railway, with additional notes, 1920.

File 2, fols. 1-91: Correspondence, 1922-1923, with Colonel Daniel Sandford, Charles Rey, Hugh Dodds, Earl Grey of Falloden, Lord Balfour, Eric Drummond and Sir John Harris, with related memoranda and manuscript notes by Lugard, including an analysis of the press campaign concerning Abyssinian slavery and his own action and sources of information from January to November 1922.

File 3, fols. 1-173 and items 1-3: Data on slavery in Abyssinia and the action of the League of Nations compiled by Lugard, including official Ethiopian and French reports, his notes on a memorandum received from Ras Tafari and a typescript memorandum on "The Slavery Question and the League of Nations" possibly by him. Also letters from Dodds, Tracy Philipps and others, 1923-1925.

File 4, fols. 1-116: Data on slavery in Abyssinia, the action of the Emperor and of the League of Nations, opinion in India, Lord Noel Buxton's and Lord Polwarth's report on their mission to the Emperor on behalf of the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, an extract from "The Legal Aspect of Slavery in Abyssinia" by A.L. Gardiner, barrister, and the "Report by Mr de Halpert on his Period of Service with the Ethiopian Government", 1931-1933.
