Summary
F.54-F.57: 13th International Congress of Chemotherapy, Vienna, 28 August-2 September 1983. At the conference Abraham was presented with the Hamao Umezawa Award for Chemotherapy by the International Society of Chemotherapy and gave an Award Lecture entitled 'Aspects of the Biosynthesis of B-Lactam Antibiotics'. Includes correspondence regarding arrangements, a 6pp copy of the typescript of the Award Lecture, with brief manuscript annotations, and a few manuscript and typescript notes, and a 14pp manuscript draft, with revisions, of an unidentified lecture (on the biosynthesis of B-lactam antibiotics) headed 'Vienna'.
F.58-F.59: Meeting organised by E.R. Squibb & Sons Inc.: 'Therapeutics for a Changing World', Princeton University, 27 September 1983. Held to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the founding of E.R. Squibb & Sons Inc. Includes correspondence regarding arrangements and a 9pp untitled manuscript draft of the lecture with revisions.
F.60-F.61: 607th Meeting of the Biochemical Society, Polytechnic of Central London, 19-21 December 1983. Abraham gave a lecture at a colloquium on 'Advances in the Biochemistry and Genetics of Antibiotic Producing Organisms'. Includes correspondence regarding arrangementsand publication of the lecture, a typescript summary of the lecture, and an 8pp copy of the published version of the lecture entitled 'Aspects of the Biosynthesis of B-Lactam Antibiotics', with bibliography and figures for slides.
F.62-F.67: Visit to India, January 1985. The principal reason for Abraham's visit was to participate in the Asian Congress of Pharmacology, New Delhi, 14-19 January 1985. (He also visited 4 other cities, giving 5 seminars.) Includes correspondence regarding arrangements, a 21pp typescript draft of the lecture 'Penicillins and Cephalosporins and Antibiotics of the future' (given at the Asian Congress of Pharmacology), and a 23pp copy of the revised version.
