Carolingian minuscule, s. ix2/3, by several hands belonging to the first Gozbald group.

Decoration

Sketches of uncertain date (Pächt and Alexander i. 16), comprising of (fol. 44r) a human face in profile; (fol. 96v) the head of a beast; (fol. 122v) sketches of a portrait of a man; four compass-drawn circles; an upside down Agnus Dei; simple two- to six-line initials, occasionally decorated.

Binding

Brown tanned calf over laminated pulpboard for Abp. Laud, 1637–1639.

Acquisition

Given to the Bodleian as part of his third donation, dispatched on 28 June 1639.

Written in Würzburg, Domstift St Kilian, s. ix2/3, commissioned/donated to the Domstift by Bp. Gozbald (842–855); contemporary inscription, f. iii verso; 10th-century inscription, f. 122v.
