Folder 1: Papers relating to MacNeice's time at the British Council in Athens, 1950-1951. Includes correspondence about producing T.S. Eliot's The Cocktail Party as the season's play for 1951; MacNeice's personal expenses form, and receipts; a report by MacNeice 'Activities 1950'; event programmes and leaflets, including for recitals by Hedli MacNeice; miscellaneous notes and correspondence.
Folder 2: Correspondence with academics, literary societies, publishers etc. relating to MacNeice's visits to, and joint recitals with Hedli MacNeice in, the United States, 1953 and 1954. Correspondents include John Brinnin (The Poetry Center), Denis and Betty Johnston, Robert Penn Warren, Allen Tate, John Berryman, Morris Bishop, Robert Craft, Morton Dauwen Zabel, Philip Vaudrin (Alfred A. Knopf, Inc.), Janet Lauren (Lauren-Walden Associates, Inc.), Harold Taylor (Sarah Lawrence College), Scott Verner (Philadelphia Fine Arts Center). Also includes MacNeice's proposal to the BBC 'Projected Visit to the U.S.A.', May 1954, and programmes and leaflets for the MacNeices' recitals in America.
Folder 3: Correspondence with publishers and literary agents regarding the publication of a children's book by MacNeice, The Penny That Rolled Away, 1953-1954. Correspondents include Velma V. Varner (G.P. Putnam's Sons) and Janet Lauren (Norma Walden Associates, Inc.). Also includes TS. versions of The Penny That Rolled Away, some with MS. comments and corrections.
