Summary
The verso of the fly-leaf is endorsed 'Book No. 6' in the same hand as a corresponding endorsement in MS. Tenbury 1503, and the same scribe is responsible for identifying one or two composers. The top corners of the folios have suffered badly from damp, and new folio numbers have been added at the foot. The composers of most of the anthems remain unidentified. Perhaps the inclusion of works by James Hawkins and Thomas Kempton, both relatively obscure composers who were organists of Ely Cathedral, suggests an Ely provenance. Folios 84-92 are in a different hand from the rest of the volume, namely that of James Hawkins.
