Summary

Editorial correspondence regarding Quantum Theory of Solids (published in 1955) which arose out of a series of lectures delivered by Peierls in 1953 at the Summer School at Les Houches; includes correspondence on foreign translations, second and paperback editions, and on other publications recommended or discussed by Peierls; some scientific correspondence arising. One early letter (1938) deals with a proposed book on the Quantum Theory which was never completed.
