Summary
The Policraticus of John of Salisbury, apparently copied at Cirencester from MS. Barlow 6 (q.v.), soon after 1200. This MS., which was used for the Oxford edition of the Policraticus by C. C. J. Webb in 1909 (vol. i, p. xv), once contained the Opusculum Probae printed in Migne, Patr. Lat. tom. xix. coll. 801 et seq., according to an inscription of about 1300 on fol. i: 'Liber ecclesie sancte Marie de Cyrencestria. Hec continents in isto volumine. Policraticus Johannis Sar. diuisus in viii libros. Item explanacio quorundam verborum extraneorum. Item opusculum Probe vxoris Adelphi ad testimonium et noui testamenti versifice compositum.'
