15th century, end, Italian (as MS., Venice?): wood boards, inside bevel; polished dark brown leather (now lightened with rubbing), tooled with blind lines, blind and gilt strapwork, small gilt leaf-tools, and blind cross-hatching on spine; remains of four clasps with brown leather straps (lost, with parchment cores) and embossed catch-plates surviving on back cover, two with a double-headed eagle design; edges gilt, gauffered (worn). 175 125–9 c. 80–83 (book closed).
