Fine 12th-cent. caroline, using punctus flexus punctuation, capitals touched with pale yellow; corrections by other early hands over erasures
Decoration
Coloured initials with penwork.
Binding
Sewn on six cords, and bound in (?)18th-cent. brown leather over wood boards; the spine with a trace of a title inscription 'Mag herveus | [...]'; alphanumerical leaf signatures perhaps date fom the time of this binding
Provenance
'Liber sce maria de Colomba', 12th cent. (fol. 220v)
Inscribed with a (?)collection number by an 18th-cent. Italian hand '266' (fol. iv)
Christie's 1 June 1977, lot 173, bought by Quaritch on behalf of the Bodleian.
