[The BBC and ITA jointly made broadcasting proposals to the Conservative, Labour and Liberal parties in June 1958. On the Conservative side, the proposals were discussed internally by amongst others Party Chairman Lord Hailsham, Attorney General Sir Reginald Manningham-Buller, the Lord Privy Seal RA Butler, and Chief Whip Edward Heath.]
