Summary
Correspondence file of N. Croom-Johnson (Parker, Garrett & Co.) regarding the Oscar Wilde literary estate (original letters and typescript copy replies) mainly regarding copyright, permissions and payments including many letters from Vyvyan Holland, as well as the Society of Authors, Inland Revenue and Metheun & Co. Ltd; also accounts with Felix Bloch Erben and Holland's annual indemnity insurance with The Employers' Liability Assurance Corporation [believed to cover him in the event that he assigned rights which did not in fact belong to him as, despite Robert Ross's attempts to sort out the literary estate, no one could be certain that Wilde had not disposed of certain rights during his last impoverished years in Paris]. In chronological order, with original folder.
Comprises:
Letters 1 Nov 1930-7 Dec 1931 [with additional letter dated 25 May 1933], including letter regarding Mr Holman's death.
Letters 8 Dec 1931-31 Aug 1932, including letters from the BBC and Sir George Russell Clerk.
Letters 6 Sep 1932-20 May 1933, including letter from Vyvyan Holland regarding position of Jewish lawyer firms in Germany [5 Apr 1933].
Accounts and letters [out of sequence] 29 Sep 1930-21 Apr 1933, including copy extract from Probate Division [22 Feb 1906] with cover letter [in French, 27 Jun 1919]; and power of attorney [11 Nov 1930]. With original folder.
