The Calendar on fol. 1 is peculiar, being in an Italian hand but South German in character (Erhard, Cunegunda, Rupert, Wolfgang, etc.), cf. MS. Canon. Liturg. 297, MS. Canon. Liturg. 319, MS. Canon. Liturg. 340, MS. Canon. Liturg. 346, MS. Canon. Liturg. 355

Bought by the Bodleian Library in 1817 from Giovanni Perissinotti. On the purchase, see Digital Bodleian

Matteo Luigi Canonici (1727– c. 1806)

Following Canonici's death, the collection passed to his brother, Giuseppe Canonici, and then to Canonici's nephew, Giovanni Perissinotti, in 1807 following Giuseppe Canonici's death

Summary

1. Fols. 1, 78. Part of a Breviary, consisting of a Calendar and the 'Commune Sanctorum, secundum consuetudinem Curie Romane.'.

2. Fol. 61. Extracts from a Manual, consisting of the 'Ordo ante celebrandum' with prayers, 'Ordo ad sepeliendum pueros' (fol. 75), 'Ordo ad introducendum mulieres in ecclesia', churching (fol. 75v), 'Ad tondendum capillos pueris' (fol. 76v), etc.

The Calendar is peculiar, being in an Italian hand but South German in character (Erhard, Cunegunda, Rupert, Wolfgang, etc.), cf. no. 19395. On Apr. 16 is 'Caustri martyris', and on May 7 ' Domicille virginis.
