Decoration

Two-line initials in blue with red penwork flourishing.

One-line initials alternately plain red or blue.

Very simple line-fillers, alternately red or blue, in the litanies.

Plain blue two-line initials in the added offices (fols. 177v-184v).

Binding

Re-sewn on four split straps and bound in wood boards (the lower board oak, the upper cover a modern replacement); the lower board with remains of two metal clasps.

Given by F. E. Norris, 1952

‘Explicit in festo s.Ruphi martyris [27 Aug.] anno domini 1443º littera dominicalis e [= 1444 leap year]’ (fol.175); collect In depositione s.Osmundi episcopi et confessoris [canonised 1456] (fol.25); collects of SS. Oswald, David and Chad [often omitted in Salisbury manuscripts of Sarum use] added by the scribe (fols. 42v–43 in lower margin)
