Acquisition

This appears to be the 'Liber de 7. vitijs capitalibus . Sermones varij', a quarto manuscript given by Thomas James in 1601, though this might refer to the latter part of MS. Auct. D. 4. 12. If MS. Bodl. 687 is not the manuscript given by Thomas James, then its provenance and date of acquisition are unknown, except that it was acquired before 1655

Provenance

See above, item 1 Fasciculus morum, 'Deliberat' dimidiam dec' [dimidium decimarum?] Ric' Norysfamular' Johannis Godemanin Cathedra sancti Petri etc. apud Westham sabbato post prandium in presencia Willelmi Bakere per acquietanciam, etc.', (fol. 176). 15th century

Also on fol. 176 are the names of 'Rauf Hassoll de Hankelow' [Hankelow, Cheshire] and 'Margaret Wright' (early 16th century)

On fol. 175 there is a note saying: 'Memorandum Cherintone did vse to clense the strind in Merton more to the Russhy hurst' (16th century)

The manuscript was owned by 'Thomas Cardiff' (fols. 1, 84v) in the 16th century

Barlow's catalogue gives 'K. 1. 2' as an old mark of this volume; it may have been kept in K. 1. 2 Med. about 1646-1650
