Fols 1-3 contain paintings of a young man, 'ætatis suæ 17', '... 18, '... 19', but all are dated 1569. The young man's coat of arms are Quarterly 1sty and 4th argent an eagle rising sable on a hillock vert, 2nd and 3rd azure four bars hummety or.

Summary
Consisting of mounted paintings, chiefly of Italian magnates, lay and ecclesiastical, types of Italian ladies, etc., done to the order of van Dale's friends, chiefly at Rome or Bologna: the friends usually write their names and the date (1569-78), with motto.
Fols. 1-3 are occupied by paintings of a young man, 'ætatis suæ 17', '... 18', '... 19', but all dated 1569: his arms are, Quarterly 1st and 4th argent an eagle rising sable on a hillock vert, 2nd and 3rd azure four bars humetty or.
