Custodial history

The 'Braikenridge Manuscript', as it is generally known, is in the hand of John Sadler (of Norwich) and belongs to the same set as the 'Willmott Manuscript', currently owned by the Berkeley Family of Spetchley Park, Worcestershire (see MS. Tenbury 1474, No. 1). It was formerly in the 'Braikenridge Collection' at Brislington, belonging to George Weare Braikenridge (whose initials are on the flyleaf). It passed to his son William Jerdone Braikenridge and then to the latter's nephew Alfred William Hall. It was purchased from him for 15 guineas by Canon Geoffrey Ryley, Fellow of St Michael's College, who presented it to the Library.
