Summary
The Consumer Problems Policy Group was established, 'to consider generally what further measures are necessary in the interests of the consumer and in particular in relation to the provision of satisfying services, consumer advice, dangerous appliances, misleading advertising, questionable trading practices, shop hours, and credit services'.
Members included Anthony Barber, Charles Curran, Joseph Dean, Elizabeth Gundrey, Edith Pitt, David Price, John Rogers, Marcus Sieff, Margaret Shepherd, Wilfred Proudfoot, Dennis Walters, Antony Newton.
The Defence Policy Group first met on 4 May 1965, 'to re-examine British defence policy and to make proposals concerning its nature, scope and priorities within the limitations imposed by our national resources; and in particular to examine what defence manpower establishments can be justified in future, and the nature of the policy which should now be followed in regard to the nuclear deterrent, including the Multilateral Force and the Atlantic Nuclear Force.'
Members included Christopher Soames, Julian Amery, John Eden, Hugh Fraser, Philip Goodhart, John Hay, Angus Maude, Anthony Kershaw, Leonard Beaton, Colonel Corbyn.
