(p.1) Bibliographical notes on the Revelations of St. Bridget and notes on her death and canonization of which Gascoigne says (p.3) ‘hec patent in libro attestacionum factarum Rome pro canonizacione s. Birgitte et fuit ille liber scriptus ex registro pape in tempore Martini pape quinti et est ille liber in Syon et hec patent folio 63 et fol.96’. This is now Brit. Mus. MS. Harley 612, cf. J.E.T. Rogers, Loci de libro veritatum, Oxford, 1881, p.169 and Acta et Processus Canonizacionis B. Birgitte, ed. I. Collijn, Uppsala, 1924, pp. xvii–xxi.

(p.5) Collection of patristic and medieval authorities similar to, but not identical with, those in the Liber de veritatibus.

(p.35) Similar collection in Gascoigne's own hand, the quotations from p.38 onwards being exclusively from Grosseteste's commentaries on the psalms and on the Pauline epistles, and from his De cura pastorali (ep.127). Gascoigne states frequently (e.g. pp.50, 60, 62) that he is using autograph MSS. in the Grey Friars library, Oxford (cf. R.W. Hunt in Robert Grosseteste, ed. D.A. Callus, Oxford, 1955, pp. 135–8). On p.41 one such reference ends ‘et anno Christi 1456 hoc opus vidi et hec tunc scripsi’, and is followed by his obit, written by himself, space being left for the insertion of the year (reproduced as plate III in Bodleian Lib., Report of the Curators 1953–4, Oxford, 1955). On p.68 is a passage on his insufficiency as a preacher, giving a list of churches and towns where he had preached, summarized in A.B. Emden, Biog. Reg. Univ. of Oxford to 1500, i.746.

Contemporary binding of stamped calf over boards, with the remains of two clasps, now kept separately as MS. Lat. th. e. 33*.
