Summary
With preface, prologue, etc. At end 'Et atant fine le xe et derrenier liure des Commentaires de Julle Cesar translatez en la ville de Lisle lan mil iiijc. lxxiiij.' There are eleven large and fine miniatures, and on fol. 4 the arms, gules a bend argent, over all a label of three points azure (stated to be those of the family of Saintré) with the motto 'Se ie puis.'.

'Ce Liure ... a esté presenté au Roy Louis quatorze en l'annee 1680. En suitte sa Majesté a bien voulu honnorer de ce present le Sieur Antoine L'Aisné son porte Arquebuse ordinaire ...'. The La Valliere sale catalogue (1783), in which this volume is no. 4915, states that it came from the St. Aignan sale in 1776.
