Paper, folded in folio; watermark cardinal's hat (type Piccard-Online 32247-32293; northern Italy, early 16th century), perhaps closest to PO 32269 (Udine, 1503)

Humanistic cursiva; one hand.

Decoration

3- to 5-line blue initials with red penwork.

Rubrics and (to fol. 75v) marginal headings in red.

Binding

18th century quarter-leather binding; title on the spine and fore-edge 'Philostrato'.

Acquisition

Purchased by the Bodleian in 1817.

Provenance

Jacopo Soranzo (?): 'probably Soranzo's' according to J. B. Mitchell (Bodleian card catalogue) on the evidence of the binding, interpreted as a 'rehashed' Soranzo binding.
