Acquisition
This appears to be the volume described as 'Chrysoloras Manuale' bought from G. E. Mason on Feb. 28, 1870, for 6s.
Provenance
As shown by B. L. Ullmann, Studies in the Italian Renaissance (1955), 279-83, this manuscript was once part of Naples, Biblioteca Nazionale, II D 26; it was removed from there probably in the late 18th century.
An armorial bookplate (early 19th cent. ?) bears argent a cross between four mullets pierced gules (for Flamank or Banbury), but the crest is a cubit-arm vested holding a sprig of acorns: the name at foot has been nearly erased. Ullmann read 'Thomas Flamank'
