Summary
Prepared for the press. Transcribed by Hearne from a MS. borrowed from Mr. Huntington, vicar of Fairford, and "communicated to me by my ingenious friend, Mr. Henry Layng, M.A., of Balliol College, July 13, 1726," and collated with a copy (formerly Mr. Noel Sparke's) in the hands of Mr. James West, M.A., Ball. Coll.
From the latter MS. are added at the beginning rough outlines of maps of the bishopric of Durham and island of Lindisfarne (fols. 19, 20), and at the end (fol. 30), the Anglo-Saxon note from the Cuthbert Book of the Gospels, printed in Wanley's catalogue, p. 252, and "an anthem for St. Cuthbert, exscribed out of a MScript of a monk of Dunelm" (fols. 30b-32b), which begins, "Splendor Christi sacerdotis / Et vicinis et remotis / Preminet cum gloria."
