Containing:

the Sclavonic and Polish alphabets;

the first Psalm, the Epistle to Philemon, the Lord's Prayer, and the numerals, in Sclavonic, both as written and as pronounced, in Polish, in English and in German.

Prefixed is a dedication to Prince Rupert, in German, and at the end is an account of the help and money received by the compiler from many persons in England, of whom he mentions the following: The King and the Duke of York (to whom, with others, he presented "ein Theatrum Cometicum"), Duke of Ormond, Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishops of London and Salisbury, Earl of Ailesbury, Countesses of Derby and Huntingdon, Ladies Dynham, Tyrrell, and Dormer ("d'Ormour"), Sir James Langham, Sir John Harpur, Sir Thos. Steevens, Sir Rich. Robinson, Sir Theodore de Vaux, Sir Rob. Vyner, Marq. Spinola, Sir Stephen Fox, Messrs. Lake, Clarke, Dilke, Osborn, Benlowes, Dr. Barlow, and — Geurdain, M.D.

He had presented other copies of this MS. to the Bishops of Rochester, Oxford, Winchester, and Carlisle, Count Guldenlaw, the Earls of Orrery and Denbigh, Lord Barkeley, Sir Jon. Trelawny ("Trylany"), Sir Philip Warwick, Sir Leoline Jenkins, Drs. Stillingfleet, Willis, Pierce, and Fell; the gifts he received in return are mentioned.

The volume concludes with an account of the origin and importance of the Sclavonic language and the reasons for its study.

At the end is inserted a short abstract of the contents of the volume, written by Mr. John Andreæ of Frankfort, 22 May 1769, at the request of Rev. John Price, then Librarian of the Bodleian Library.

On a fly-leaf is the following memorandum: "Serjent Brown, at the sign of the Plume of Feathers near Argyle Buildings in Oxford Road, came from Dr. Maddocks at the French boarding-school near Cavendish Square."
