Acquisition

Presented by the dean and chapter of Exeter in 1602.

Provenance

For date and origin see R. Gameson, 'The origin of the Exeter book of Old English poetry', Anglo-Saxon England 25 (1996), 157.

'Liber Clerobaldi,' about a.d. 1200 (?): identified by F. Rose-Troup ( Exeter Vignettes (1942) 9–19) as Clarembald (d. 1130 × 1133).

Exeter Cathedral: identifiable in the catalogues of 1327 and 1506 (G. Oliver, Lives of the Bishops of Exeter (1861), pp. 303, 371), and see by Leland (MLGB).
