Title
To Compton from Rob. Frampton, non-juring bishop of Gloucester, before his deprivation; Glouc.
Shelfmark
MS. Rawl. C. 985, fol. 19
Summary
In his present low condition, should any one be presented to the vicarage of Standish as his friend [to hold it for him], the payment of the first-fruits, above £44, would half sink him; he hears of a libel against the non-swearing bishops, accusing them of a desire to invite the French over to conquer England; for his own part he hates "every thing that is French, their religion, their tyranny, and their King Lewis le Grand more than any King alive, not excepting the Grand Signior."
Signed "Robert Gloucester."
