Provenance
Colchester, Essex, Benedictine abbey of St John the Baptist (?) : A copy of a tabula hanging in the abbey church and written in 1526. The copy appears to be pre-dissolution. Headed exemplar. "Hic incipit tabule siue temporum fasciculi in Monasterii Colcestr' sacra ede pendentis". The latest dates are at the end of 14th century. (MLGB3: evidence from locally specific contents, including obits, scribbles, etc.).

'Exemplar hic incipit tabule sine temporum fasciculi in monasterij [sancti Johannis Evangeliste] Colcestrensis sacra ede pendentis:' beg. 'Caput mundi. Prima die mundi creatus est mundus:' a short chronicle to A.D. 1382, written in A.D. 1526, and here copied not long after. It is divided into seven parts:

'Bellum regum Anglorum'
'Obitus quorumdam regum Anglie'
'De Colecestria et Coele'
'Qualiter cenobium Colcestriese inceperit' and 'de obitu abbatum huius ecclesie.'
The parchment cover bears a large coloured initial.
