Decoration

Various decorative headpieces: i) fol. 1r: Large piece (in black and red) which was written over the first five lines of the main text. The scribe realised that he needed a decoration and apparently covered those lines with it. On top of the sketch it is written in red ink: ἰησοῦ υἱὲ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐλέησόν με. (on left and right sides); ii) fol. 130r: small piece in red ink, partly lost due to paper cut; Simple decoration: fols 201v, 236r (with use of simple cross), 262r, 277r,

Binding

Typical Holkham binding of dark brown leather, with Coke family ostrich crest in gilt in the centre of the upper cover; Date: early nineteenth century. Rebound by John Jones of Liverpool (worked for Holkham 1816–1823. The spine lettered in gilt: / TRACTATUS/ VARII/ GR.–/ SÆC. XV./ ; in pasted black leather: MS. /HOLKHAM/ Gr. 82/
