Summary
Anthony à Wood's name, with the dates 1656 and 1657, occurs on the first fly-leaf, followed by this note; "These were drawne by me when I first practized heraldry."
With reference to the greater part of the book, which consists apparently of a roll of arms of the time of Edw. I., and which is copied from MS. Laud 649 (Bodl.), Wood quotes this account from the MS. which he used: "These armes were taken forth of a verry antient roll of parchment, soe worne as they were scarsely to be discerned; 1585" (rectius, 1589); and then adds, "and now transcribed from thence, A. D. 1657."
