Fine initials. Written in humanistic script by Giovanfrancesco Marzi of San Gimignano at Peccioli in 1476, fol. 227v. Fol. 1 a later replacement. (Pächt and Alexander ii. 307, pl. XXVIII)
Binding
15th century, Italian (as MS.): wood boards; reddish-brown leather, blind-tooled with multiple lines and stamps including laurel and near-strapwork designs, and spine cross-hatched with double lines; gilt gauffered edges; slots cut in front board under leather for four broad straps or clasps (absent, perhaps never completed, no matching evidence in lower board). 372 252–254 c. 70 (book closed). A pair with MS. Canon. Class. Lat. 297, which shows the same anomaly over clasps, tools not quite identical.
