Incomplete manuscript and typescript drafts of written between April and December (published 1951). All the drafts seem to have been discarded from a final version which is not preserved in the collection. Comprises:
(fols. 1-2) are a list of characters and a plot summary of chapters 11-22;
(fols. 3-103) consist of longer passages of narrative; and
(fols. 104-43) of single pages or short passages.
