Physical facet
Two instrumental parts, 127 and 128 leaves, respectively. Fols. 3-62 in each part were formerly stitched together and consisted probably of 15 quires of 4, with watermark, Cardinal's Hat, initials G. R., not in Heawood. Fols. 79-110 were a separate book, probably 8 quires of 4, with watermark Pot, initialled PBR, not in Heawood. The books were finally bound with 4 quires of 4, with watermark Pot initialled PRO, not in Heawood, placed after each of the original sections. Ruled with 5 staves, margins at both edges. Binding brown calf with blind fillets and corner decoration as MSS. Mus. Sch. e. 431-436. Paper labels, formerly on both covers of each, read 'Treble 2 ds' and 'Tenor'.

This item is part of the Music School collection of printed and manuscript music, which was originally bequeathed to the University of Oxford by William Heather (c 1563-1627), and gradually added to until the end of the 18th century.
Acquisition
The collection was transferred to the Bodleian in 1885.
