Summary

Miscellaneous papers (bound in about 1875-80), bearing on English history and topography. Some were written to the editor of the Gentleman's Magazine, some are 17th century records. Many were Gough's, and nearly all may have been, though the number in his own handwriting is not large. The chief items, out of a large number, are:

Fols. 2, 109. Numismatical notes, on signor Haym's medals, etc.

Fol. 66., 'A dissertation on Julius Cæsars Passage over the river Thames, read before the Society of Antiquarys Jan. the 9th 1734/5', by Samuel Gale

Letters from D. Barrington, 10 July 1783 (fol. 76), George Ashby, 10 Sept. & 15 Oct. 1777 (fols. 83, 347), William Jacobs, about troubles in America, 16 Nov. 1755 (fol. 323), drafts of letters from Gough, 1772-82 (fols. 346, 354)

Fol. 85. '... Passio sancti Æthelberhti regis et martiris', by Osbertus, monk of Stoke Clare (about A.D. 1700)

Fol. 138. 'A short delineation of the Runic stick and its use', about clogalmanacs: beg. 'The Runic stick consists of two principal lines' (this was given by John Pointer to the Bodleian in 1749)

Fol. 218. An original acquittance by Henry Fanshawe, 15 June 1554, with other Fanshaw papers
