Summary
Miscellaneous notes and papers by, relating to, or in the possession of Dr. Martin Lister, chiefly in Latin; many are extracts from, or abstracts of, printed works, such as the Philosophical Transactions. The chief pieces are:
(fol. 1) a manual of Christian faith in four divisions or twenty articles, with censures on them, all in French (about A.D. 1600);
(fol. 23) a title and preface (the latter never printed) to Lister's Letters and mixt Discourses (York, 1683);
(fol. 76) French notes on Celsus de Medicina, 1666-1667;
(fol. 218) a list of Dr. Lister's books sent to the Ashmolean Museum, fifteen in number;
(fol. 245) an imperfect list of coins;
(fol. 299) parts of an English translation of a Latin treatise on Preservatives from the Plague, especially on 'Zenexton', written in the second half of the 17th century, not by Lister: some of the original Latin appears to occur on fols. 334-51;
(fol. 421) Notes of plants observed by Lister in Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire in the summer of 1666.
