Summary

A volume of scores of music copied at various dates, 1755-the 1830s, Nos. 3, 5 and 6 are in the hand of a copyist employed by Franz Hauser [this information was provided by Dr. Yoshitake Kobayashi]; nos. 9, 10 and 12 have 'Felix' pencilled on the first page by Hauser. After nos. 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 13, F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy wrote in pencil 'Die Stimmen auf der Thomasschule zu Leipzig 26 Jul 1841'. Described as 'L' in Kritischer Bericht to Neue Ausgabe, I. 18, pp. 164-5.

(fols. 1-13) Ouverture in D, BWV 1068, copied for the Abonnement Concert, Leipzig, 15 Feb 1838.

(fols. 14-28) Cantata 'Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben'. BWV 8, in E. Parts, in D, were seen at the Thomasschule 26 Jul 1841.

(fols. 29-44) Cantata 'Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam', BWV 7. Transcribed from the copy made by Franz Hauser from the parts at the Thomasschule, Leipzig, 10 Nov 1833, now S.P.K. P 1159/XI adn. 5.

(fols. 45-59v) Cantata 'Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt', BWV 68, [copied by C.G. Sander].

(fols. 61-77v) Cantata 'Ich ruf zu dir', BWV 177.

(fols. 78-93) Cantata 'Herr Jesu Christ, du höchstes Gut', BWV 113.

(fols. 94-105v) Cantata 'Wachet auf', BWV 140. Copied by C.F. Penzel, 10 Aug 1755. See Kritischer Bericht to N. A. I. 27, pp. 133, 140 et seq.

(fols. 136-153) Cantata 'Gott, man lobet dich in der Stille', BWV 120 [copied by Sander].

(fols. 154-171) Cantata 'Schmücke dich', BWV 180 [copied by Sander]. Arias and recitative are copied in the space below the scores of choruses.

(fols. 172-181v) Cantata 'Es ist nichts gesundes', BWV 25, copied by Sander, 19 Oct 1834, emended by F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

(fols. 182-197) Cantata 'Ach lieben Christen', BWV 114 [copied by Sander].
