Title
A Compendium of Practicall Musick by Christopher Sympson [Simpson]
Shelfmark
MS. Tenbury 390
Summary
This is the autograph manuscript of Simpson's work, originally published in 1665 under the title The Principles of Practical Musick. Simpson's authorship is undisputed despite the insertion of the name "Henry Purcil" on fol. 2 of the manuscript, which is in a different hand and different ink. There is a strong probability that this manuscript served as printer's copy for the first published edition.
