1st song dated at end 16 September 1925, 2nd song dated at end 15 March 1925. Dedicated to 'Dorothy Silk and Adrian Boult (Oxford Festival, May 1926)'. Together with a version of the 2nd song transposed for mezzo-soprano. Published in version for voice and piano, London, Oxford University Press, 1926. [See also MS. Mus. c. 93, fols. 9-24].
