Summary
Lists of manuscripts:
(p. i). 'А Catalogue of the MS[S]. remaining in the same Closett with the Ld. Ch. Justice Hales's MS[S. at Lincoln's Inn, London], but giuen by other hands', also of MSS. not in the said closet, and (p. iii) of the Hales MSS. themselves.
(p. viii). 'A note of some choyce MS[S]' 'in Sir Ro: Cottons Library' These two articles are in a different hand from what fallows.
(p. xi). 'A Catalogue of the books p;iucn by Mr Seldens Executors to the Library of the Uniuersity of Oxford' both printed and manuscript, as well as 'other rarities' received at the same time, in 1659: a long and detailed list.
On the inner front cover is copied 'The forme of an Jndulgence printed at the beginning and end of the old Tenures [of sir Thomas Littleton] etc. by Rich. Pinson, in Lincolns Inne Library, G. G. Shelfe; 6, lib: i.' This is a Latin indulgence issued on May 3, 1508, by William Warham, archbp. of Canterbury, and Robert Sherborne, bp. of St. Davids, in the form of a license to choose a confessor with power to absolve from crime. Two letters from John Nicholson, librarian of Lincoln's Inn, Oct. i and 6, 1885 (at p. 149), show that the original is probably lost.

'H. Powle A. I': his books passed after his death in 1692 to lord Halifax, in whose sale in 17 39/40 this volume was no. 196. It is very probable that the book came in the Rawlinson collection to the Library.
