Decoration

Important historiated and other initials. Miniature (drawing), fol. 106r and historiated initial, fol. 138v, added, 13th century (?). Textual additions of 14th century. (Pächt and Alexander ii. 18, pl. II)

Capitals coloured with brush strokes, many large initials; a full-page initial at the opening of the Exultet (fol. 115v).

A later drawing of the Last Supper is on fol. 106.

Musical notation

The Exultet with Beneventan notation on 1 dry-point line.

In the passion of St. Matthew (fol. 71) the parts are indicated by e, i and x; in the others (fols. 84v, 94, 119) the c, s and + are added.

Acquisition

Purchased by the Bodleian in 1817.

Provenance

Written in the scriptorium of St Chrysogonus, Zadar, for the Benedictine nunnery of St Mary, Zadar, under abbess Uekanega.
