(fols. 45-46) An early version of Elijah, no. 23, bars 47-end, 'Be not afraid.' Autograph. Paper cut, no watermark visible. 18 staves to a page. Upright.

The original manuscript was sent by Paul Mendelssohn Bartholdy to Samuel Smith of Bradford, 1853, to whom Bartholomew returned it, having translated the words into English. Oblong.
