The writer mentions at p. 44 that he was born at Ottley. At p. 130 he gives the inventory of the jewels, vestments, etc. in York Minster in the time of Edw. VI, followed by an inventory of the plate, copes and vestments "now" remaining there in 1639 (p. 139). At p. 160, verses on Q. Elizabeth's death; p. 170, an ode on the Gunpowder Plot, "by one of Pembroke Hall in Cambridge" ("Oh Jupiter, and Graces nine"); p. 180, verses on the death of James I, as printed in Howes' Continuation of Stow's Annals, 1631, p. 1036.

The account of the proclamation of James I at York is also word for word the same as in Howes' Continuation, p. 818.

The narrative for the year 1630 is occupied only with the articles of the treaty concluded between Spain and England, and with a letter from Milan giving an account of the supposed appearance of the devil there in the shape of a prince.
