Folder 1. Correspondence, Jan-Sep 1876, includes: several letters from F.J. Furnivall. One long letter in June concerns a talk he had had with Macmillan and J R Green, about Dictionary policy and practicalities: he sees Macmillan as the publisher (for the Clarendon Press), and Murray as Editor. Some other names included in folder: Alex Macmillan, George A. Macmillan, and William Jack of Macmillan and Co., Publishers to the University of Oxford; Thomas B. Gray; J.G. Goodchild ; D. Laing; Alexander J. Ellis; Norman MacColl, editor of the Athenaeum; John Ireland Blackburne; Edmonton & Douglas, Edinburgh booksellers and publishers; William Greenwell; James Hardy. Includes a letter in German from J. Stone Blomfield.
