Summary

Comprises:

Small patterned book with a black and white string, made by Celia Furse from an indexed notebook and containing a selection of hymns and prayers. Inscribed 'for Jill [Furse] when she was seven years old from her mother April 1922'

Dark green notebook of Celia Furse containing an anthology of poetry, in French and English, probably begun by Celia in the early 1900s. A brief note by Theresa Whistler is in the front of the volume, n.d.

Dark red notebook of Celia Furse containing an anthology of prose, with a few initial quotations in her hand (for example Thomas a Kempis) and later entries by her on religion, morals, emotions and George Meredith. Inscribed for Celia in 1901 by her mother, Margaret Newbolt

Small, black ring-bound book, Celia's book of quotes, poems and notes, n.d. [1930s?]

Celia Furse's homemade calendar of Walter de la Mare quotations, one for every day of the year, 1950s or 1960s. An accompanying label by Theresa Whistler says this was 'made as a pastime in Halsdon years'
