Copies of letters from and to William Sterndale Bennett covering the years 1836-1874. The first letter is said to have been copied in 1919. Where the original letter was written in German, an English translation is also provided.
Among the original letters to William Sterndale Bennett are those written by: Johann von Goethe, Julius Kistner, Felix and Cécile Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Clara and Robert Schumann, and Louis Spohr. There are hand- and typewritten indexes at the front of the volume.
